NSIA Annual Meeting POSTPONED

NSIA is following the COVID-19 situation very closely and following all public health recommendations related to meetings and other gatherings. Therefore, we have decided to unfortunately postpone the upcoming Annual Meeting, originally scheduled for April 29, 2020. When a new date has been decided on, we will notify members with this information.

We have also made the decision to postpone the Honours and Awards Banquet, originally to be held in the evening after the Annual Meeting, to now occur after the Semi-Annual meeting on November 18th, 2020 at the Holiday Inn. This gives members more time to make nominations for these awards! Nominations can now be placed up until October 1, 2020.

NSIA COVID-19 Update

Here at the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists we are following the COVID-19 situation very closely and following all public health recommendations related to meetings and other gatherings.  As of now, we are currently working to sort out cancelling or rescheduling all planned workshops and meetings up until April 3, 2020, where possible we will be holding meetings via electronic means such as conference call or video conference.  We will update you as we determine alternative arrangements for these events.  To help protect yourself and other, please visit https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus.

In an effort to continue to provide service to our members and clients we will continue to maintain regular office hours until further notice.  However, we do ask that you only visit the office if required.

If we are required to close the office for public health reasons, we can assure that we have the ability to work remotely and will do our best to maintain our high level of service.

We are working very closely with our related organization at ACMA to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic in the Province, region and nationally.

An update of the upcoming Annual Meeting will be released shortly.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your patience during this time.

10th Annual CFGA Conference and Pre-Conference Technical Workshop

The Canadian Forage and Grassland Association (CFGA) is offering an invitation prior to the 10th Annual CFGA Conference for the Annual Pre-Conference Technical Workshop.

These technical workshops have become in integral component of the CFGA Annual Conference.  Started in Winnipeg at the 2016 event, Technical Workshops have focused on key issues and/or projects that the CFGA is working on and have been used to bring forage industry practitioners from across the country together to discuss trends, concepts and challenges that the industry is facing.

Feedback from forage sector researchers from across Canada has highlighted some difficulty in securing students interested in pursuing Post-Secondary degrees in the forage field.  In an early attempt to address this challenge, the CFGA has teamed up with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to host student engagement exercises throughout the conference week.  Students will be on hand during the technical workshops and at a special reception following the days events on November 12th, and will be encouraged to attend the remainder of the conference.
