Honours and Awards: Nominations Open!
The Honours and Awards Committee is accepting nominations for the following awards:
- Outstanding Farm Award
This is awarded to a farm that has made significant contributions to the agriculture industry. These contributions may be through involvement with industry organizations, special projects and through innovative and progressive farming practices that have contributed to the advancement of the agriculture industry in Nova Scotia. P.Ag. status is not required. To be eligible for this award, the farm must be registered as a registered farm with the Province of Nova Scotia - Distinguished Agrologist
This award recognizes a Professional Agrologist for their outstanding contributions in the agricultural community. These contributions may be through involvement with the Institute, industry organizations, special projects and his/her career. This person should have made contributions to the industry that has impacted the advancement of the industry. Must be P.Ag status. - Distinguished Life Member
This award recognizes a Professional Agrologist or Retired Agrologist, who has reached the age of 60, for their outstanding contributions in the agricultural community. These contributions may be through involvement with the Institute, industry organizations, special projects and his/her career. This person should have made contributions to the industry that has impacted the advancement of the industry. Must be P.Ag status. - Outstanding Young Agrologist
This award recognizes a Professional Agrologist under the age of 40 for their significant contributions in the agricultural community. These contributions may be through involvement with the Institute, industry organizations, special projects and his/her career. This person should have made contributions to the industry that has impacted the advancement of the industry. Must be P.Ag status. - Honourary Member
This is awarded to a person not eligible for membership in the Institute and has made significant contributions to the agriculture industry throughout his/her career. These contributions may be through involvement with the Institute, industry organizations, special projects and his/her career. This person should have made contributions to the industry that has impacted the advancement of the industry. P.Ag status is not required.
Award recipients will be announced at the NSIA AGM on April 26th. Nominations close on March 31, 2018.

If you know of a deserving candidate, complete a nomination form and submit it to the Honours & Awards Committee Chair, Maxine MacLean at mmaclean@nsfa-fane.ca by March 31st.
2017 Nominations and Elections Due March 15
The NSIA Nominations and Elections committee is requesting nominations from any registered member in good standing to sit as councillors on NSIA council.
For the upcoming year, Council will have four positions to fill, each a 3 year term. The NSIA council meets roughly 9 times per year, as well members are asked to put their name forward to sit or chair one of the committees. The current NSIA council has been working hard over the last few years to improve our governance, policy and procedures as well as updating our legislation.
Please send completed nomination form to the chair of the Nominations and Election committee, Jacqueline Hoyt (Jacqueline.Hoyt@novascotia.ca) by March 15th @ 4 p.m.
If required, 30 days prior to the NSIA AGM a secure on-line election process will be circulated to the membership for voting. The winners of the election will be announced at the AGM, on April 26th at the Holiday Inn, Truro.
